Message of Dr. Saad Khan, Honorable President of ECI, on the occasion of Commemorating Day of Ferdowsi on May 15, 2025

The cultural elites, scholars and literary heroes of the ECO region have always act as the voice of the people and expressing their needs and aspiration and giving immortality to the society.
One of these literary heroes is Hakim Ferdowsi, the author of the Shahnameh. Today, in a world surrounded by chaos, Cultural anonymity and moral and social crises, we need to turn to Ferdowsi’s thoughts more than ever, because the foundation of these thoughts and ideas is based on justice, wisdom, humanity, and cultural identity. A poet who, by creating the Shahnameh, presented the world with not only a great epic, but also a treasure of human values and deep philosophical and moral insights.
Ferdowsi’s thought is not limited to Iran and the Persian language. In the Shahnameh, he spoke of persistent concepts such as justice, rationalism, loyalty, fighting against oppression, and valuing humanity.
Today’s world needs rethinking, and returning to Ferdowsi’s thoughts can be considered as a torch for lightening our way towards peace, justice, and peaceful coexistence among people of the world. Ferdowsi is undoubtedly one of the pillars of culture and literature in our region and the world, and throughout the Shahnameh, he considers wisdom to be the main criterion for human knowledge and behavior. In a world where the walls of distrust between nations still stand tall, referring to Ferdowsi’s thoughts can sow the seeds of dialogue, respect, and peaceful coexistence in hearts.
