“Ashura poetry evening” held at ECO Cultural Institute (ECI)
The second poetry reading session entitled "Ashurai Poetry Era" with the presence of poets from different ECO member states was held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 in ECI diplomatic library.
The poems from Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkey attended on this session and read their poems in Persian, Urdu, and Turkish, describing Ashura, the martyrdom of Imam Imam Hussain (ra) and his companions.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Saad Khan, the head of ECI, appreciated everyone for attending the meeting. He added poetry reading through Ashura, is a religious, holy, and also a valuable issue for all Muslims. He emphasized poem reading as one of the important issues for the Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR) of ECO member states and further added; Soon, other poetry reading meetings will be held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, and after that in Türkiye.
Then, the first poem was read by Mr. Ahmad Shahriar from Pakistan, who also organized and conducted the meeting. After that, Jalal Nazaft from Iran, Mohsen Saeedi from Afghanistan, Atefe Joshghaniyan from Iran, Mohammad Javad Asman from Iran, Kacho Azhar from Pakistan, Fateme Betul Soyuz from Turkey, Mohammad Reza Tahmasabi from Iran, Elham Sadat Hosseini from Pakistan, Hamid Taqdeemi from Afghanistan, Zahra Zahedi from Afghanistan, Inayat Sharifi from Pakistan, Mohammad Hossein Mahdavian from Iran and Alireza Noor Alipour from Iran recited their poems describing the epic of Ashura. Also, at the end, Shah Mansour Shah Mirza from Tajikistan recited three poems by three Tajik poets, Nizam Qasim, Dara Nejat and Mohammad Ali Ajami. 
It is worth mentioning; the first poetry meeting entitled "the Martyrs of Service" with the presence of 15 poets from different ECO member states was held at ECI in June 24, 2024 on the occasion of the 40th day since martyrdom of Martyrs of Service.
