The 12th of October is dedicated to the Commemoration Day of world renowned Persian poet Khwaja Shamsoddin Mohammad Hafez of Shiraz (1325-1390). I extend my felicitations on the occasion of Commemorating Day of Hafez, to all those who love Hafez and his literary garden of ethic and mysticism.
I think Hafez is one of the most popular poets in the ECO region and those who are interested in mystical concepts of Persian literature, not only in the ECO region but also in all over the world, are attached to his pure words. Goethe, the greatest German poet, has expressed his devotion and sincerity to this great poet many times in his poems and wishes to have a unique speech like him.
The poems of Hafez are like a mirror that everyone including young and old, man and woman, rich and poor, happy and sad, can all see themselves in and seek relief for their pains. This is the reason why Divan e Hafez is referred to for fortune telling. And that is why during region-wise festivals of Nowruz and at Yalda Night his Divan is the recited with fervor.
Hafez poems are not limited to any time or any époque. Even though more than 600 years have passed since the Devan e Hafez was written, but still its poems have not lost their value. Divan Hafez is one of the most popular books in the ECO region, which is published in millions, and one can find Divan Hafez in most Persian speaking households
