Iqbal Day at Tehran University

On Tuesday, 12th November 2024, Tehran University hosted an event to commemorate Iqbal Day, celebrating the remarkable legacy of Allama Iqbal, the great philosopher, poet, and visionary. The program brought together scholars, students, and dignitaries to reflect on Iqbal’s enduring contributions to literature, philosophy, culture, and the unity of diverse communities.
Key speakers at the event included Dr. Saad Khan, President of the ECO Cultural Institute (ECI); Mr. Mudassir Tipu, Ambassador of Pakistan to Iran; Dr. Abdul Raza Saif, Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Social Sciences at Tehran University; Dr. Zahid Munir, scholar for the Pakistan Chair in Urdu and Pakistan Studies and Dr. Ali Bayat, Associate Professor of the Department of Languages at Tehran University.
In his speech, Dr. Saad Khan emphasized the significance of Urdu as the most widely spoken language among Muslims. He also shed light on ECI’s cultural initiatives, including the recent publication of a book by Dr. Wafa Yazdan Manesh, a professor at Tehran University, which chronicles her experiences in Pakistan. Dr. Khan also announced ECI’s upcoming translation and publication of the book Khutoot-e-Iqbal benam-e-Atiya Faiz, further showcasing ECI’s commitment to fostering cultural and educational collaboration among its member states. He reaffirmed ECI’s dedication to supporting students, particularly those from the Urdu Department, by providing them with platforms for learning and engagement.
The event also featured enthusiastic contributions from students, including speeches and poetry recitations dedicated to Allama Iqbal’s philosophy and vision.
