H.E. Dr. Saad S. Khan, President of the ECO Cultural Institute, welcomed H.E. Mr. Seydou Zataou Aly, Ambassador of the Republic of the Niger to the Islamic Republic of Iran, for a meeting at the ECI Headquarters in Tehran on January 26, 2025, to discuss enhancing cultural ties and cooperation between Niger, the ECI and the ECO member states.
During the meeting, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of establishing close connections with international cultural organizations, identifying the ECI as a pivotal body in this endeavor. He expressed Niger’s readiness to expand cultural cooperation not only with the ECI but also among ECO member states, highlighting that mutual cooperation would be advantageous for both sides. The Ambassador urged the ECI to facilitate these efforts, paving the way for fruitful partnerships.
In response, Dr. Khan underscored the richness of African culture and civilization, asserting that valuable cultural cooperation can be established between ECO member states and African nations. He elaborated on the various activities of the ECI, explaining that the Institute is mandated by its Charter to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between the ECO Region and other regions of the world. Dr. Khan extended an invitation to all African countries, particularly Niger, to utilize the cultural and artistic facilities of the ECI, encouraging them to hold events that showcase their arts and culture or mark their national occasions.
Ambassador Aly welcomed the ideas presented by Dr. Khan, affirming the significance of understanding the cultures of other nations. He highlighted the potential for enriching exchanges that could arise from such cooperation.
